Dr. Joseph S. Kim was born in Seoul, Korea and moved to the United States at the age of six. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia as the youngest of four children with a Presbyterian pastor father and a stay-at-home mother. His father’s church ministry moved him and his family to Florida during his teen years, and Dr. Kim graduated high school in Florida.

Dr. Joseph S. Kim completed his undergraduate studies at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia, earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry. He went on to continue his education in Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. After receiving his doctorate at Tufts, Dr. Kim completed a post-doctorate general practice residency at UCLA. Following his residency at UCLA, he moved back to East Coast to begin his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. After finishing his OMS residency 1998, Dr. Kim settled down in beautiful Northern CA and has been in private practice ever since.

Dr. Joseph S. Kim is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and dedicates much time during the year in staying up to date with the latest technologies and techniques in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Kim is passionate about his work and feels privileged to be able to use his gifts to benefit others. He also loves to teach and is always seeking growth, as well as encouraging growth and excellence in others. He leads top-notch, on-going study clubs for doctors and is an Associate Professor in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the University of Pacific (UOP) in San Francisco, where he specializes in teaching the latest and the best in dental implant surgery.

Dr. Kim is a devoted husband and a proud father to four fantastic kids: a teenage son, a tween daughter, and two little rescue dogs. When he is not working, he loves to cook and eat delicious plant-based foods, learn about integrative health and wellness, listen to great music, exercise, enjoy outdoor recreations, travel and explore new places with his cherished family and friends.

Dr. Kim is committed to his personal growth as well as the growth of the entire team. Several days each year are dedicated to continuing education both locally and nationally to keep up to date with modern techniques and technology
